Tampa blanked in Canada by Leafs, Losing Streak at Four Games

Derek Caldwell- Thunderstruck Sports-- It was another shutout against the Lightning, this time at the hands of the Toronto Maple Leafs by the score of 2-0. Brayden Point and Nikita Kucherov both reentered the Tampa lineup, but that didn't change the lackluster offense of the Lightning during this four game skid.

The Lightning came out firing early, but Dennis Hildeby was game for every attempt the Bolts put on net. The early onslaught from Tampa became the foundation of the Maple Leafs netminder's first career shutout; a 29 save effort.

Morgan Reilly opened the scoring with 3:34 remaining in the first period after an unfortunate bounce off of Yanni Gourde's skate left the puck in the high slot for an uncovered Reilly.

Not a lot to speak of in the second period outside of Jonas Johansson making some fabulous saves to keep Tampa alive. All of Tampa's stars were putting pucks on net, but no one could get one past Hildeby.

In the dying seconds of regulation, Auston Matthews sunk an empty net goal to give the game its final score of 2-0.

Jonas Johansson made 22 saves on the evening only allowing the Reilly goal in the opening frame.

If you're wondering why this is such a short write up, it's simply because there was nothing noteworthy that happened in this game. Tampa couldn't generate, and really neither did Toronto. Alas, someone had to win.

Tampa attempts to get back in the win column on Tuesday night when they visit Montreal.
